Formulas for Inducing Astringency 

In this section, the formulas functions are to stop profuse sweat, diarrhea, night ejaculation, urine, etc. which  loss the liquid, qi and blood. 

1.   Recipes for  Consolidating superficial resistance for hidroschesis 

Jade-screen powder (Yu Pingfeng San) 

Ingredients:

Ledebouriella (Fangfeng) 30g

Astragalus (Huangqi) 30g

Bighead atractylodes (Baizhu) 60

Function: Tonifying qi and consolidating the superficial resistance to arrest perspiration 

Indication: Spontaneous perspiration due to qi deficiency  

2.  Recipes for relieving diarrhea with astringents 

Pill of four miraculous drugs (Si Shen Wan)

Ingredients:

Nutmeg (Roudoukou) 60g

Psoralea fruit (Buguzhi) 120g

Schisandra fruit (Wuweizi) 60g

Evodia fruit (Wuzhuyu) 30g

Fresh ginger (Shengjiang) 6g

Chinese Dates (Dazao) 2 pcs

Function: Tonifying spleen and kidney  to arrest diarrhea  

Indication: Chronic diarrhea due to spleen and kidney deficiency    

 

Golden lock pill for keeping the kidney essence (Jinsuo Gujing Wan)

Ingredients:

Flat-stem milk-vetch seed (Shayuanjili) 30g

Gordon euryale (Qianshi) 30g

Lotus stem (Hegeng) 60g

Lotus seed (Lianzi) 60g

Dragon’s bone (longgu) 30g

Oyster shell (Muli) 30g 

Function:  Consolidating the kidney to treat emission     

Indication: Frequent emission due to kidney deficiency   

4. Recipes for curing metrorrhagia and leukorrhagia 

Pill for arresting uterine bleeding (Gujing Wan)

Ingredients:

Scutellaria (Huangqin) 30g

White peony (Baishao) 30g

Tortoise plastron (Guiban) 30g

Ailanthus bark (Chungenpi) 21g

Phellodendri bark (Huangbai) 9g

Nutgrass flatsedge rhizome (Xiangfu) 7.5g   

Function: Tonifying yin to clearing away heat, arresting bleeding to cure metrorrhagia 

Indication: Metrorrhagia
