1.7 Painful periods

It is lower abdomen pain before or during or after periods, and the pain is directly related with period.

Herb formula: Ge Xia Zhu Yu Tang

(2) Yang deficiency

Clinical manifestations: Before and in period cold pain, small amount, and pale tongue body with white fur, weak pulse 

Treatment principle: Tonifying yang, warming uterus to stop pain

(3) Clod-damp blocking

Clinical manifestations: Before or in period cold pain, warm alleviated and cold aggravated, greasy white fur

Clinical manifestations: After period dull pain, night sweating, emaciation, red tongue with dry yellow fur

1.8 Flood and trickling (Beng Lou)

Beng is flood, which is sudden, profuse bleeding often without normal period cycle; Lou is tricking, which is bleeding not stop often whose amount is not too big.

Treatment principle: Tonifying yin and clearing heat,  and stopping bleeding

(2) Liver qi stagnation

Clinical manifestations: Big bleeding or trickling, emotion change, hypochondria full pain, red tongue, taut pulse 

Treatment principle: Smoothing liver qi and clearing heat and stopping bleeding

(3) Damp-heat in the lower jiao

Clinical manifestations: Big bleeding or trickling, dark clot, yellow and sticky discharge, red tongue with yellow greasy fur

(4) Qi-blood deficiency

Clinical manifestations: Big bleeding or trickling, light red, qi and blood-, pale tongue

(5) Kidney deficiency

Clinical manifestations: Big bleeding or trickling, lower part weak and cold

1.9 Pre-menstruation syndrome

It appears before period 7-14 days, including headache, breast full pain, fatigue, emotion changes, insomnia and edema, etc.

1.9.2 Differentiations and treatments

(1) Liver qi stagnation

Clinical manifestations: Emotion change, breast full pain, hypochondria full pain, and taut pulse

(2) Liver and kidney yin deficiency

Clinical manifestations: Hot flush, easily irritated, headache, insomnia, and red tongue with yellow fur

(3) Spleen and kidney yang deficiency

Clinical manifestations: Edema, abdomen distension, poor appetite, pale big tongue with white fur, weak and deep pulse

1.10 Menopause syndrome 

It appears before and after menopause, including period disorders, flush fever, emotion changes, sex changes, etc.

It is leucorrhoea amount, quality, color and odor disorder.

2.2 Differentiations and treatments

(1) Spleen deficiency

Clinical manifestations: Profuse, white discharge, non odor, qi-,  pale tongue with white  fur

(2) Kidney yang deficiency

Clinical manifestations: Profuse, white, very thin discharge, non- odor, yang-, pale tongue with white fur

Treatment principle: Tonifying kidney yang

(3) Kidney yin deficiency

Clinical manifestations: Small, sticky, yellow discharge, other yin deficiency symptoms, and red tongue with yellow fur, rapid pulse

Treatment principle: Tonifying kidney yin and clearing heat   

Herb formula: Zhi Bai Di Huang Tang

(4) Damp-heat

Clinical manifestations: Profuse, yellow, sticky discharge, foul odor, red tongue with yellow fur

3. Diseases related with pregnancy 

3.1 Tai Lou (Colporrhagia)  and Tai Dong (Fetus restlessness)

Both of them occur in pregnancy women.  Tai Lou is a small amount of vaginal bleeding without lumber soreness and abdominal pain.  Tai Dong manifests lumbar soreness, abdominal pain of dragging distention in the lower abdomen. Both of them are threatened abortion.

3.1.2 Differentiations and treatments

(1) Kidney deficiency

Clinical manifestations: Threatened abortion, low back sour and weak, frequent night urination, tired, weak and deep pulse

Herb formula: Sang Ji Sheng San

(2) Qi and blood deficiency

Clinical manifestations: Threatened abortion, tired, pale face, shout breath, pale tongue, weak pulse

Treatment principle: Tonifying qi and blood to prevent abortion    

Herb formula: Tai Yuan Yin

(3) Heat in the blood

Clinical manifestations: Threatened abortion, red tongue with yellow fur, rapid pulse 

Treatment principle: Deficiency:  Tonifying yin and clearing heat from blood to prevent abortion

                                      Excessive: Clearing heat from blood to prevent abortion

Herb formula: Yin deficiency: Bao Yin Jian

                           Excessive: Qing Re An Tai Yin

 

(4) Trauma

Clinical manifestations: Threatened abortion after trauma

Treatment principle: Tonifying qi, regulating blood to prevent abortion

3.2 Pernicious vomiting

It manifests nausea, vomiting, dizziness, anorexia or prompt vomiting after eating during pregnancy especially in the early stage.

3.2.1 Etiologies and pathogenesis

Phlegm blocking middle jiao

3.2.2 Differentiations and treatments

(1) Spleen deficiency

Clinical manifestations: Nausea, vomiting, dizziness, anorexia, qi deficiency symptoms, and weak pulse

(2) Phlegm blocking middle jiao  

Clinical manifestations: Nausea, vomiting, dizziness, anorexia, overweight, greasy fur and slippery pulse  

Treatment principle: Transforming phlegm to stop vomiting      

Herb formula: Ban Xia Fu Ling Tang

(3) Disharmony of liver and stomach

Clinical manifestations: Nausea, vomiting sour water, dizziness, anorexia, hypochondria full pain, and taut pulse  

Treatment principle: Soothing liver and regulate qi to stop vomiting

4. Post-delivery (postpartum) diseases

4.1 After childbirth body pain

It refers to after childbirth the joints, back, limbs and other part of body sore and numb.

(1) Blood deficiency

Herb formula: Huang Qi Gui Zhi Wu Wu Tang

(2) Wind-cold invading

Clinical manifestations: After childbirth joints, back, limbs and other part of body very serious pain, aggravated by cold and relieved by warm, pale tongue and white fur, deep   pulse

Treatment principle:  Dispersing wind-cold, warming the channels   

Herb formula: Du Huo Ji Sheng Tang

(3) Kidney deficiency

Clinical manifestations: After childbirth joints, back, limbs sore and numbness, especially lower part of body, and other kidney deficiency symptoms

4.2 Persistent lochial discharge 

It refers to after childbirth the lochial discharging longer than normal and red color.

Clinical manifestations: Lochial discharging longer than normal and red color, often profuse, thin, not foul lochial, qi deficiency symptoms

(2) Heat in the blood

Clinical manifestations: Lochial discharging longer than normal and red color, dark color, thick, foul lochial, red tongue with yellow fur   

Treatment principle: Tonifying yin and clearing heat to stop bleeding    

Herb formula: Bao Yin Jian

(3) Blood stasis

Clinical manifestations: Lochial discharging longer than normal and red color, often clot lochial, fixed and sharp lower abdomen pain, purple tongue    

Treatment principle: Promoting blood circulation and removing stasis

4.3 After childbirth urination disorder

It refers to after childbirth urination difficulty, or retention, or incontinence.

5. Miscellaneous disorders  

5.1 Women infertility

It is inability of pregnancy in mutual women who has at least two years normal sexual life and whose partner has normal reproductive function.

5.2 Vaginal itching

It is persistent itching of the vulva and / or vagina, or may an excessive vaginal discharge.

(1) Heat-damp in liver channel

(2) Parasites

Clinical manifestations: Persistent itching of the vulva and / or vagina, with yellow or pus discharge
